Academic Regulations

  • The Dean is primarily responsible for ensuring that the academic regulations related to internal assessments and semester exams are followed. The Dean works with faculty to ensure that the academic integrity is upheld in all examinations, both internal and external. The Dean is also concerned with academic standards and the overall academic performance of students.
  • The Dean ensures that the examination policies, including rules and procedures, are clearly outlined and communicated to students and faculty.
  • The Dean monitors that exams are conducted following the academic standards and regulations, ensuring a fair and transparent process.
  • The Dean ensures that internal assessments are conducted fairly and align with the course objectives and the learning outcomes expected from students. Internal assessments typically include assignments, quizzes, mid-term exams, project work, presentations, and other forms of evaluation during the semester and also ensures that the internal assessments.
  • The Dean sets the weightage for internal assessments which will contribute to the final grade, ensures a balanced evaluation of both internal and external assessments. The Dean promotes the continuous internal evaluation throughout the semester to monitor the consistency of students’ learning.
  • The Dean ensures that a consistent grading system is in place, which aligns with the University’s academic regulations. The Dean ensures that grading is based on clearly defined criteria for each type of internal assessment (e.g., presentation quality, research depth, participation, etc.). The Dean ensures that the final grade reflects both internal assessments and the final exams and enforces the minimum passing criteria and academic performance requirements as mentioned in the Academic regulations. The Dean also ensures that students receive timely and constructive feedback on their internal assessments, enabling them to understand their strengths and areas of improvement.

Grading

  • ➔ The Dean ensures that a consistent grading system is in place, which aligns with the University’s academic regulations.
  • ➔ The Dean ensures that grading is based on clearly defined criteria for each type of internal assessment (e.g., presentation quality, research depth, participation, etc.).
  • ➔ The Dean ensures that the final grade reflects both internal assessments and the final exams and enforces the minimum passing criteria and academic performance requirements as mentioned in the Academic regulations.
  • ➔ The Dean also ensures that students receive timely and constructive feedback on their internal assessments, enabling them to understand their strengths and areas of improvement.

Notifications

The Dean issues notifications to inform students and faculty about key information related to internal assessments such as:

  • ➔ Notifications about deadlines for assignments, quizzes, and other internal assessments.
    ➔ If there are any changes in the assessment pattern, grading system, or exam schedules, the Dean issues official notifications to all concerned.
    ➔ The Dean may also issue notifications about academic policies, exam schedules, re-evaluation procedures, and changes to the academic calendar.

Time Tables

The Dean oversees the preparation and management of timetables for internal assessments, mid-term exams, and semester end exams.

  • ➔ The Dean ensures that the timetable for internal assessments is prepared in coordination with faculty members to avoid clashes and provide enough preparation time for students.
  • ➔ The Dean is also responsible for overseeing the end semester exam timetable, ensuring that exam dates are communicated to students in advance and no scheduling conflicts arise.

Circulars

The Dean issues circulars to communicate the important academic information and regulations to students and faculty.

  • Circulars related to deadlines, formats, and requirements for assignments and internal exams.

  • If there are any modifications to the academic calendar or other academic guidelines, the Dean communicates these through circulars.

  • The Dean issues guidelines for maintaining code of conduct academic integrity, such as rules regarding plagiarism or cheating during internal assessments.

Results

The Dean is responsible for managing the results of internal assessments and semester end exams.

  • The Dean oversees the grading of all internal assessments, ensuring that grades are compiled accurately and reflect students' performance.

  • The Dean ensures that feedback on assessments is provided to students, so that they can understand their performance and areas for improvement.

  • The Dean ensures transparency in how results are calculated, and may establish clear guidelines for grade distribution and student access to results.

Guidelines

The Dean ensures that there are clear guidelines for both academic conduct and student behaviour throughout their academic career.
